Miami, Florida, October 27, 2009 – Educate Tomorrow, a non-profit providing one-on-one educational mentoring to youth transitioning out of foster care, will host its 5th Annual Gala on Saturday, November 14, 2009.

This year’s “Great Gatsby” themed Gala will be held at an elegant private bay front estate on Old Cutler Road, whose architecture and design are truly reminiscent of the style and feel of a graceful home set in the 1920’s. Guests will enjoy live music by Electric Piquete, exceptional wine and food, and the company of Miami’s top executives and professionals.  Leading the festivities, as master of ceremonies, will be Jim Berry, Co-Anchor of CBS4 This Morning.  Another special guest includes Sierra Minott, Miss Florida 2008, whose platform as Miss Florida is “Inspiring Youth to Believe and Achieve”.

An Esther Williams-inspired performance by stunning synchronized swimmers from Aqua Firm and Fit and flapper fun by A Hot Party will add to the 20’s themed festivities.  Catering will be provided by a sultry selection of South Florida’s best restaurants and caterers including Smith & Wollensky, Badrutt's Place, Catering by Alyse, Tap Tap, Jennifer's Homemade, Cuatro Leches, Cakes by Denise and Homebaked by Tara. These gastronome favorites will entice even the most discerning foodies with their gourmet fare.  Complementing the array of food will be wine sponsored by Top Hat Wine and Spirits, among others.

Every year hundreds of foster care children “age out” of the system and are expected to blend in to society as adults. Although the State provides them with financial aid for continuing education, many of them lack the necessary skills, guidance, and information needed to take advantage of these programs. Educate Tomorrow is comprised of volunteers in the community who are willing to mentor and guide these young adults and assist them in the process of completing high school and applying for college or technical school.

The cost of mentoring, life skills training, and in-school support groups is approximately $2,000 per child for the first year, far less than the cost to society when a former foster child ends up homeless or incarcerated.  Tickets and sponsorships purchased for the Gala will directly benefit Educate Tomorrow and make a positive change in the lives of our foster care youth.

Additional event sponsors include Kick It Click It Action Sports Photography, JBG Communications, Amaniac Designs, Plum TV, Event Outfitters, Shutts & Bowen, Gibraltar Private Bank, Ver Ploeg & Lumpkin, Damian & Valori, and Robert Hudson. The event is being co-hosted by the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity of Florida International University and the Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade.

The 5th Annual “Great Gatsby Gala” will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. to 12 a.m. at a private bayfront estate located at 17575 Old Cutler Road. Individual tickets are on sale for $150. Corporate sponsorships are also available and range from $250 - $10,000. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.educatetomorrow.org or by calling 305-374-3751.

About Electric Piquete: The band was founded by long-time friends Ed Rosado and Michael Mut in summer of 2007 as a way to get a spot at the yearly Hialeahfest held @ Churchill's Pub. What originally started as a reunion for Ed's previous band Rezidue instead turned into a brand-new project. The two principals continued to compose and rehearse together and eventually added guitarist Chris Core, saxophonist Ozzy Reyes, trumpet player Rich Dixon and trombonist John Normandin. The sextet now writes together and occasionally features other local musicians. Electric Piquete will soon be reentering the Shack North Studio with friend and producer Ferny Coipel (humbert | I Don't Know) to record a full-length CD. In 2009, the band has performed at Red Bar Gallery, Tobacco Road, Lakes Cafe, Carnaval on the Mile, Jazid, Cuba Nostalgia, Big Fish, Finnegan's River, Bougainvillea's, FeSTiDAN, Dolphin Mall, WDNA 88.9FM live radio segment "Sound Theory" and a private party in Southwest Ranches. Electric Piquete was named "Best Latin Band" in the Miami New Times' Best of 2009 issue (06.11.09) and "Band of the Hour" by Miami.com (09.18.09).
