FatCity Marketing, Thomas Tsilionis Announces FDK for the BlackBerry Platform

Oct. 27, 2009 - PRLog -- Newark, NJ -- FatCity Marketing (FCM) today announced the BlackBerry FatSoftware Development Kit (FDK) to enable third party application developers to build rich, integrated applications for BlackBerry® smart phones using common web technologies. With the new BlackBerry Fat FDK, developers can build web-based applications for BlackBerry smart phones with advanced features and functionality, a capability only previously available for BlackBerry applications written in Java®.

Thomas Tsilionis, President of FatCity Marketing stated that the new FCM program is designed for clients who already have website access through the FatCity platform and need specialized access for smart phones. This is the second smart phone application developed by FatCity Marketing who currently also manages the IFC (IPhone Fat Cat Technology) interface for IPhone applications.

A BlackBerry FCM uses the BlackBerry® Browser engine to render an application's user interface using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Developers are able to use existing web content to create BlackBerry FCM and extend the capabilities of their web applications using BlackBerry Fat APIs.

Using the new BlackBerry Fat APIs, developers can, for example, create seamless interaction between a FCM and the BlackBerry email and calendar applications, create FCMs with the ability to view or edit files and documents stored on the smart phone, access location-based services or the media player, and more. Developers can also take advantage of FCM's unique push technology, enabling dynamic FCMs that can run in the background and provide proactive alerts to users in a timely manner.
