Oct. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- The klezmer music is originally the secular Jewish music that was played in Central and Eastern Europe during 18th and 19th century. The word "klezmer" is a yiddish term which is the contraction of two Hebrew words."Kli" means instrument or vessel while "zemer" means the voice, the song. So the meaning of klezmer is the instrument of the voice, the vessel of the soul. The musical instrument like the clarinet, the flute or the fiddle is like an amplifier of the human voice, the klezmer musician is actually singing rather than playing.Fleeing the pogroms and persecutions thousands of Eastern European Jews immigrated to the West, mostly to the American continent. Among them were countless talented musicians who brought with them their instruments, their music and their rich traditions.
