Oct. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- After positive responses to volunteers at this Mockfest Film Festival earlier this year, students were invited back to put their decorating skills to work on a masterpiece of interactive terror.

The theme for students to work with when building their ghoulish attractions is The Haunted Nightclub.  Shockfest “Just won’t let Halloween die,” and the students will be working to keep that theme alive at the November 7th event.  The film festival will be held at Cinespace Nightclub in the heart of Hollywood.

Since its inception, Shockfest Film Festival has been devoted to giving a home to films that might not find a platform elsewhere.  These films are too shocking, controversial, irreverent, or cutting edge to fit into most festival lineups.  This year Shockfest has 31 official selections from around the world.  The films feature several award winners, including Cannes Film Festival official selection, “Spaceman on Earth” from two-time Cannes filmmaker, Shant Hammassian.

Claveria,  a fulltime Westwood faculty member, says he likes getting creative with his classes.  “Even though our small school isn’t the caliber of UCLA or Cal State, We have students who surpass the caliber.  I just want to give them the chance to show it.”

Check out the handiwork of these hard working local students.  The audience will cast votes for the best haunted student booth.  Shockfest Film Festival will be on November 7, 2009, at Cinespace, 6356 Hollywood Blvd., in Hollywood.  Films and special events, including live performances and a Red Workflow Media seminar, run all day, 2pm – 9pm, Saturday.  For tickets and event information, go to www.ShockFilmFest.com.  A limited number of free tickets for Upland area residents are still available.  Call Claveria at 626-576-8803 for details.
