Selecting the Right Executive Recruiter

Whether you are a hiring manager building a strong team for your company or someone seeking a position on a strong team, it is important to select the right executive recruiter, to act as an integral partner throughout the recruiting process.

Oct. 22, 2009 - PRLog -- There are some key objectives to look for when considering which recruiter to partner with:

-Right Niche

Does the recruiter work and recruit in your field of interest? Does the recruiter specialize in manufacturing jobs, operations management, warehouse distribution, logistics transportation and/or supply chains positions?  Recruiters generally work a niche market, which is of great advantage to you.  The niche could be an industry such as logistic careers, a discipline such as supply chain consulting, or a specific job level such as supply chain management. It is important to determine if the recruiter’s niche matches your job interest and can actually benefit you.  Get more information here: http://www.psrfirm.com/

-Professional

Is the recruiter professional?  Will he or she keep your company and personal information confidential?  Is he candid about what he can or cannot do?  Is she sincere about helping you?  Will he be selective and inform you when a job that matches your requirements is found?  Will he ask you (if you are a job seeker) before sending your resume to a prospective hiring manager?  Will he load you (if you are a hiring manager) with tons of resumes, relevant or not, in the hopes that one will match?

-Keep you informed

Will the recruiter keep you informed during the recruiting process?  Will he explain the position including location, compensation, and give company information before asking to present your resume?  Will he let you know the progress on the open position (if you are the hiring manager)? Will he bring the process to closure if you have been passed over and the company is no longer interested (if you are the job seeker)?  Will he provide progress on the search for your open position or will the recruiter just disappear?

-Experience

Does the executive recruiter have the experience in the logistics industry to understand the position and understand what you want? How long has the recruiter been in business?  What did the recruiter do prior to becoming a professional executive recruiter?  Does she have a full understanding of recruiting?  For someone who does, visit http://www.psrfirm.com/

Before deciding on a supply chain executive recruiter, you should interview each one, ask questions, identify expectations, and basically feel comfortable partnering with your recruiter. It is important that the hiring manager, or job seeker, understand how the recruiter does business.  You should also communicate your expectations to your recruiter. If the hiring manager, job seeker, and recruiter are not on the same page -- it could very likely turn out to be a waste of time for all.
