Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival Online Competition wants you to vote!

Oct. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- (Amman, Jordan) Having established itself as the first entertainment event of its kind the Middle East has ever witnessed, the Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival was a raging success in 2008, but this year’s Festival comes with a twist; an online competition will give two unknown comics the chance to take part in the second annual Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival 2009, this December.

We asked comedians from all over the world to submit clips of their best five minutes of material and we received over 65 submissions from 10 different countries. The clips were then reviewed by our panel of judges: Showtime Arabia’s Wonho Chung, Dean Obeidallah (Comedian and Executive Producer of the Amman Stand up Comedy Festival and NY Arab-American Comedy Festival), Jamil Abu-Wardeh (Director of Original Content at Showtime Arabia), Maysoon Zayid (Comedian and Executive Producer NY Arab-American Comedy Festival) and a Representative from The Greater Amman Municipality.

We are now excited to announce the finalists for the contest and to invite the public to vote online from now until October 31, 2009 to decide which two comedians will be a part of the upcoming Festival.

The comedian who receives the top votes in each category will receive round trip airfare to Amman, hotel accommodations and an opportunity to perform along side some of the top names in comedy.

The second annual Amman Stand-Up Comedy Festival 2009 will be held from December 4 until December 10, 2009, with the support and joint collaboration of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and the New York Arab American Comedy Festival.
