NAWRB Heats Up in Florida

REO professionals arrived at the 2009 REOMAC Fall Conference in Hollywood, Florida last week to discover and share the latest trends in the default servicing industry and found an organization that is steadily generating attention, the National Association of Women REO Brokerages (NAWRB).   

New and prospective members were given the chance to meet President and Founder of NAWRB, Desiree Patno, and discuss the opportunities presented by this distinctive association.  Patno believes, “In these early stages of our organization’s existence, it is essential for the National Association of Women REO Brokerages to become a familiar and trusted name.  Conferences such as REOMAC make this possible.”  In addition to NAWRB’s participation in exhibitions, the conference featured a playground of networking opportunities.     

The REOMAC conference verified that the notion of an organization that elevates the awareness of women brokers and owners dedicated to REO is highly desirable and long overdue.  Patno noted, “So many women are impressed with the idea that there is a membership of this stature available to them.  The testimonies we were given in Florida have been quite fulfilling and encourage us to move forward and even explore additional avenues.”

When asked to elaborate, Patno suggested the possibility of women owned businesses that are not brokerages but are affiliated with REO becoming a part of this industry-specific organization.  “We’ve received numerous inquiries regarding eligibility from women owners who are connected to the REO industry, such as companies specializing in appraisals and escrow, and we are definitely examining the inclusion of these entities.”  She continues, “Our goal is to accomplish this addition by the end of 2009.”

Only one month since the association’s commencement, it would suffice to say NAWRB has transitioned dramatically from a great vision to a highly organized phenomenon in its own right.  Women REO brokerage owners from all over the country have already joined and several more applicants are currently undergoing review.
