White and Green Asparagus donated by Gourmet Trading Company used in demos during Latino Heal

Oct. 22, 2009 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES – Gourmet Trading Company is pleased to announce their participation in Latino Health Awareness Month through the “Sustaining Health for Our Generations” event that was held in Los Angeles September 25th.  The event focused on the health risks faced by California’s low-income Latinos and empowered them to live better by eating more fresh fruits and vegetables and being physically active every day.  
Julia Inestroza, Marketing and Merchandising Manager for Gourmet Trading Company stated, “It’s important for us to support our community, and what better way to do that than through sharing our fresh white and green asparagus.  We are pleased that the community responded so positively to these vegetables”.  Chef Patricia Zarate from Home Girl Cafe developed two special recipes for the event and prepared the dishes for those in attendance to sample.  
“Many Latino moms are facing challenges during these tough economic times. Latino Health Awareness Month is one of the many ways the Latino Campaign is helping families in Los Angeles to become Champions for Change who take small steps – like buying fruits and vegetables and going for walks together – to sustain health for themselves and their families, even on a tight budget,” said Alejandrina Orozco, coordinator, Network for a Healthy California—Los Angeles Region Latino Campaign.
