Oct. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide.  The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York on Friday, November 13.  Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S.A and several other countries are expected to attend.   The presentations will be broadcast live on radio in the U.S.A. by the Business TalkRadio Network.

More than 1,100 entries were submitted this year for consideration in 54 categories, including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur, and Best Community Involvement Program.  PowerofSlow.org is a Finalist in the Blog of the Year category.

Christine Louise Hohlbaum, whose book 'The Power of Slow: 101 Ways to Save Time in Our 24/7 World', is being released by St. Martin’s Press on October 27, 2009, started her blog as a gathering of the minds around slow living. “We are living longer now than we ever have in human history,” Hohlbaum stated. “The irony is we act as though we have even less time, too.” Hohlbaum’s book and accompanying blog serve as a guide to establishing a more positive relationship with time so we have more of it.

Daniela Rapp, Hohlbaum’s editor at St. Martin’s Press, states: “This is such a well-deserved nomination, and I am thrilled for Christine and 'The Power of Slow'. Christine is making an important and timely contribution to the ongoing debate about quality of life and mindful living, and all of us here at St. Martin’s congratulate her on this recognition for her blog and the book.”

Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging.

“Being named a Finalist in The Stevie Awards for Women in Business is an important achievement,” said Michael Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards.  “It means that independent business executives have agreed that the nominee is worthy of recognition.  We congratulate all of the Finalists on their achievement and wish them well in the competition.”

“It is such an honor to be selected as a Finalist,” said Hohlbaum. “Living at a saner speed does not mean we are less productive. It means we are more mindful of our choices. This nomination underscores the importance of addressing the sustainability of our pace of life in a 24/7 world.”
