Kathmandu Jazz Festival Starts in Nepal

The 2009 International Kathmandu Jazz Festival (Jazzmandu) festival has started in Nepal, with participants from United States, France, Holland, Thailand, India, Brazil and Nepal.

Oct. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- "Jazzmandu", the annual Jazz Festival in Kathmandu (Nepal) has started, and it runs from Oct. 8 to Oct 13 with participants from  United States, France, Holland, Thailand, India, Brazil and Nepal. It is the only jazz festival in the entire Himalayan region and was initially started in March of 2002. You can check out the details at jazzmandu.com

- Trio Urbano (New York-USA)
- Sheyla Costa La-Brasileira (Brasil/France)
- Cadenza ( Kathmandu-Nepal)
- Soulmate (Shillong-India)
- Simon Fisk (Canada)
- JCS Quartet (Kathmandu-Nepal)
- Trebeka (UK/France)
- Traditional Musicians (Nepal)

The festival promotes international music and encourages the talents of domestic Nepali musicians. There are many free shows, workshops and educational programs in this festival. The festival has grown and improved greatly over the years and we hope to continue its progress and make the festival even better. The event organized by Upstairs Ideas Pvt. Ltd and the The Upstairs Jazz Bar.

The week long festival's most looked forward to event with 8 hours of music will be held in it's birthplace, the grassed open courtyard at the Resort, surrounded by traditional Nepali Dachiya (fired brick) buildings and ancient trees, some close to 200 years old.
