Antiques by Zaar: Keeping it "Real" Online and in High Point

Established as an online only furniture retailer this pioneering entrepeneur is drawing on social media to draw customers to her website. For those that want to see all first hand, she'll be at High Point Furniture Market, showing from her warehouse.

Oct. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Ruth Olbrych, co-founder/owner, heart and soul of her business, Antiques by Zaar, has served as a pioneer in the world of selling furniture in the virtual world; presenting and selling Chinese antiques exclusively via her online store front. She is excited about all the venues made available by this current “trend” of social networking to further the growth of her online business/presence.

As such she was thrilled to accept an invitation by the ASID Carolinas’ chapter to share her unique perspective in a seminar entitled “Social Media and You”, at their Fall Conference, held earlier this month. To a room full of enraptured listeners she offered background on her online business and how she has experienced growing acceptance of the Trade, to make purchases, sight unseen from an online source.

In an article she wrote, and which is currently posted on the High Point Market Authority site, she further expounded on how designers as an entity are embracing the world of social networking and how we as members of the community of businesses based in High Point, have an opportunity to meet with them in this cyber world, and bring them to do business with us in High Point.

And that is exactly what she aims to do with every missive she puts out there. Her monthly online newsletter reaches close to 4,000. Via  her blog Ruth/Antiques by Zaar, she is able to reach out beyond her list; offering information on her genre, sharing testimonials and photos as provided by her happy customer base, promoting the organizations she participates in, highlighting her growing list of trade partners, offering “reports” on events attended and, of course, simply sharing her perspective/experiences that come from being a mother of 3 college students, from living 13 years overseas, from being a small business owner (this is not her first gig)… and sharing what she is learning as she opens herself up to receive the benefits of engaging in social media.

Utilizing the plethora of tools available to further engage with her prospects online, the sky is the limit for the scope of her outreach. Her website serves well as the landing station for the web of activity engaged in with portals that lumped together are known to us as “social networking”

She looks forward to Market next week, where her virtual and real worlds tend to come together, and having the opportunity to personally showcase her collection, from her warehouse/showroom, at 400 Mandustry St, High Point. You’re welcome to a sneak peak on this You Tube video.

Follow her blog where the topic of the day will be none other than High Point and all that relates to it, as we approach Fall 09 Market.
She can also be found on Twitter, Facebook, and Linked In.
