Oct. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Following the success of the 'Managing Energy Emergencies' workshop series held in a variety of UK locations over 2008 and 2009, Steelhenge and IGEM are to hold an energy emergency management workshop on October 21st for government and energy industry delegates in Dublin, Ireland. The interactive workshop will draw on the experience of seasoned practitioners from the energy industry in Ireland and cover energy emergency arrangements, latest developments in the Republic and Northern Ireland, the impact of disruptive challenges, such as pandemic flu and fuel supply, on the energy industry, how to lead an emergency response and future challenges for the industry. Steelhenge Consulting Ltd, one of the UK's foremost emergency planning and business continuity consultancies, is delighted to have the opportunity to work with IGEM once more. "It's a testament to the success of the 2008 and 2009 energy emergency planning workshops that we have the opportunity to deliver the same valuable content to delegates in Ireland," commented Mike Gilbert. "Previous delegates have really appreciated the opportunity to hear about real energy emergencies from people personally involved in managing them. Personal experiences of energy emergency incidents bring all of the theoretical concepts of emergency planning to life and the scenarios enable delegates to think about the decisions they would have to make. The feedback has been so positive we are confident that the delegates at the Dublin ‘Managing Energy Emergencies' workshop will also find it incredibly useful."

The workshop is designed to help any individuals who are responsible for the management of their business in an emergency, including emergencies influenced by pandemic variables. "The workshop is very timely considering that we are experiencing the global pandemic of the H1N1 flu virus," Mike continued. "Pandemic factors can exacerbate the emergency situation, so it's absolutely critical for emergency managers to be well informed to be as effective as possible for their business. The ‘Managing Energy Emergencies' workshop will be held in at Bord Gais Networks, Dublin on 21st October. Places are limited, so interested parties are urged to book early to avoid disappointment. The next workshop in the series will be held at Kegworth in November, focusing on energy emergency arrangements in England, Wales and Scotland.
