Follow on Google News | Florida Mortgage Broker and Loan Originator School - New License Requirements on January 1, 2010In accordance with Florida legislation passed earlier this year, the license exemption (FS494.006) for all Loan Originators employed by Florida licensed Lenders and Correspondent Lenders will be going away on January 1, 2010.
By: Brad Larson We will tell you how to obtain a Florida Mortgage Broker License and we will give you information about the state exam. HERE ARE THE STEPS TO GETTING A FLORIDA MORTGAGE BROKER LICENSE: 1. Register for Class When you register for our Mortgage Broker License Course, you will receive instructions for obtaining your Florida Mortgage Broker License. 2. Submit Your License Application Package Online. Your License Application Package must be completed online at https://real.flofr.com (no "www" is required). Click on "Register to use online services" if this is your first time to the site and follow the directions. On the application package you will share information about yourself and pay a fee of $281.25. This fee pays for your application, fingerprint card processing and your state exam. Your License Application and your fee must be completed in order to schedule the state exam. 3. Submit Your Completed Fingerprint Card. The Florida Office of Financial Regulation will mail you a fingerprint card upon submission of your online application. Complete the fingerprint card at a local law enforcement agency as soon as possible after receiving it. Mail the completed fingerprint card to the Florida Office of Financial Regulation - 200 E. Gaines Street, Tallahassee, FL 32399. 4. Attend Class. Complete Mortgage Broker License Course prior to taking the state exam. Classroom attendance is required. Upon successful completion of the course, Larson Educational Services will submit proof of your course completion to the Office of Financial Regulation. 5. Schedule the State License Exam. Upon approval of your application the testing service - Pearson VUE - is notified by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and they in turn notify you with instructions to schedule the license examination. You have 90 days from the date of your application to pass the exam. We recommend you schedule your exam to take place 2-5 days after you complete our course. You can also contact Pearson VUE for exam scheduling after your application has been approved by calling 866-467-5554. 6. Take and Pass the Exam. Remember to bring two forms of identification with signatures (one must be a government-issued photo identification) Our Mortgage Broker License Course is the 24-hour course required to obtain your Florida mortgage broker license. In this course you’ll learn the basic principles and business fundamentals of financing and mortgage brokerage. You’ll leave the course with a comprehensive understanding of common mortgage terms, state and federal lending laws, mortgage broker standards of conduct, common industry practices, current Florida licensing requirements, and Florida licensing rules. The course materials include a student workbook with space for notes and sample questions and diagnostic exams to measure your progress and prepare you for success.
