Randy V. Sabett, J.D. and Magistrate Judge Facciola Keynote Speakers at The Masters Conference

Sabett, partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, and Magistrate Judge John M. Facciola, U.S. Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, will be keynote speakers at the Masters Conference. The conference, “Global Corporate Change – Navigating Discovery, Risk and Security,” will be held October 13-14, 2009, at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The Masters Conference will bring together experts and leading professionals from law firms, corporations, government entities and the bench to discuss strategies, practices and resources for managing the information lifecycle.

Day one keynote speaker, Randy V. Sabett, J.D., CISSP, is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal LLP, where he is a member of the Internet, Communications & Data Protection practice group and the Intellectual Property & Technology practice group. He counsels clients on information security, privacy, IT licensing, and patents, dealing with such issues as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), digital and electronic signatures, federated identity, HIPAA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, Sarbanes-Oxley, state and federal information security laws, identity theft, and security breaches. Mr. Sabett is a commissioner for the Commission on Cyber Security for the 44th Presidency and has been recognized as a leader in privacy and data security in the 2007, 2008, and 2009 editions of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. He has also been recognized as one of the Top 50 Under 45 by American Lawyer Media’s IP Law and Business and is listed in the International Who's Who of Business Lawyers. Mr. Sabett teaches information policy as an adjunct professor at George Washington University and is on the faculty of IANS.

Day two keynote speaker, Magistrate Judge John M. Facciola, was appointed a United States Magistrate Judge in the District of Columbia in 1997. Prior to being appointed to the bench, he served as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan from 1969-1973, and was in private practice in the District of Columbia from 1974-1982. Judge Facciola joined the U.S. Attorney's Office in 1982 and served as Chief of the Special Proceedings section from 1989 until his appointment as magistrate judge. Judge Facciola is a frequent lecturer and speaker on the topic of electronic discovery. Judge Facciola is a member of the Sedona Conference Advisory Board and the Georgetown Advanced E-Discovery Institute Advisory Board. He is also the former editor in chief of The Federal Courts Law Review, the electronic law journal of the Federal Magistrate Judges Association. He has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Federal Judicial Center. His most recent publication is Sailing on Confused Seas: Privilege Waiver and the New Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, 2006 Fed. Cts. L. Rev. 7 (2006). He received his A.B. from the College of the Holy Cross and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
