Oct. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- Snowboarding Zone has just released a new section of their website that has all of the basics on Snowboard Boxes. This is part of a new community website that is all about Snowboard Boxes. Members and non-members can visit this Snowboard Boxes page on the Snowboarding Zone website for free at: http://snowboardingzone.org/.

Here is an excerpt from the new Snowboard Boxes information webpage:

"Snowboard boxes are wider than the typical rail system, but that just means that there is more of a surface for you to get hurt on in the event of an accident.  So, start out small and work your way up.  Learn the rails before you go to the boxes and always remember to practice safety techniques and measures. That includes wearing a helmet at all times.  When playing on the features that a snowboard park offers to its riders, such as the rails, boxes and half pipe, there is a great chance that you could get hurt and protecting yourself by wearing a helmet and by taking other safety precautions is a must.

Snowboard boxes are sometimes even wider than the actual snowboard that you are riding.  Some may be constructed to stand up higher in the air, have curves or raised areas or they may be flat.  It all depends upon the park and what type of system they have ordered.  Some may only stand a foot off of the ground, while others can be taller.  Always start out on the more basic and simpler models of the boxes until you can get comfortable.  Watch other snowboarders who have a high comfort level.  You can gain important knowledge just by watching them.  Watch how they balance their weight and how they hop onto the box or how they dismount at the end.  You can definitely pick up some really handy tips and tricks by watching someone else.  Watch how they try to land in the event of an accident.  Watch how they dismount if they lose their balance.  By even watching the bad stuff, you can learn what the best way to wreck is to keep you from getting injured."
