Premier Interior Designer Renovates Landmark Building on Melrose Avenue
By: Rose Tarlow Melrose House

Oct. 2, 2009 - PRLog -- Rose Tarlow Melrose House, the acclaimed interiors furnishings company, has relocated to a premier historic building in West Hollywood to showcase the collection’s elegantly designed furniture, textiles, lighting and accessories under one handsome roof. The thoroughly transformed, 9,000 square-foot space resembles a residential environment with its inviting vignettes and crafted architectural details that reflect Tarlow’s private-client installations. In addition, numerous new items are on display, including the modern furniture collection, sumptuous rugs and fabrics, and a lighting
and accessory gallery.

"I love change and always have. The new and exciting location—just blocks away from my old shop—is larger, more accessible, but thankfully still retains the old Melrose House magic" said famed interior designer Rose Tarlow. "Our brilliant architect Marc Appleton presented us with a fresh, young and contemporary building and has successfully retained the charm of the original shop. Our new house has inspired me in so many ways; I am designing new fabrics, new pieces of furniture and everything under the sun that pertains to the home. Change is good!"

Designed in partnership with Rose’s longtime friend and collaborator, Marc Appleton of Appleton & Associates, the open-layout showroom features an abundance of natural light and a cohesive unfolding of each room into the next, offering visitors a first-hand experience of the Rose Tarlow Melrose House lifestyle. Upon entering the two-story space, the front entry room instantly provides both an intimate and airy atmosphere, evoking how Tarlow envisions private living spaces. Additionally, the hand-finished, reclaimed oak floors with varied planks of grains and lengths offer an unusual and thoughtful dimension.
Tarlow’s first-ever collection of linen rugs grounds the room vignettes and compliments the unique flooring choice.

Moving into the side rooms, each element was considered carefully, from the cozy family kitchen, to the comfortable bedrooms and home office environments. Each room contains special accessories to provide a point of interest, from Tarlow’s original designs or items found from her global travels. The architectural redesign also welcomes a lighting gallery, displaying a select assortment of sconces, table and floor lamps, fashioned from materials such as iron, wood, glazed ceramics and alabaster.

On the second level, Tarlow displays her luxurious—and expanded—line of indoor and outdoor fabrics, including a variety of materials from sheers to velvet to prints on hemps and linens. The company’s offices are also located in the building, ensuring seamless client services.

“Opening this expanded showroom in this wonderful landmark building—just around the corner from our original space—means we can now fully inspire customers by sharing Rose’s all-encompassing vision for interior design that was previously only available through the pages of her book (The Private House, Clarkson Potter) and via her private residential projects,” remarked Meg Touborg, CEO of Rose Tarlow Melrose House.

The company also distributes its products through 16 select multiline showrooms in the U.S. and will be re-launching its Web site in mid-October.
