Michigan Chronicle Honors Local Change Agents with Fourth Annual Legacy in Motion Awards Gala

Legacy in Motion honors individuals, families and organizations that have made headlines for their contributions to Southeast Michigan’s economic growth, social change, and overall development.
 
Oct. 1, 2009 - PRLog -- DETROIT –  Continuing its ongoing mission to celebrate those who enlighten, inform, and inspire, the Michigan Chronicle today announced that it will again host its annual Legacy in Motion Newsmakers Gala. Launched in 2006, Legacy in Motion honors individuals, families, and organizations that have made headlines for their contributions to Southeastern Michigan’s economic growth, social change, and overall development.  

“It is during challenging times like those of today when it becomes that much more important to celebrate the things gone right, “said Sam Logan, publisher of the Michigan Chronicle. “Because those are the things that continue to spur innovation and inspire change, he continued.  “That is why despite the tough economic conditions, the Michigan Chronicle is forging ahead with these awards.  Legacy in Motion is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to those whose commitment and passion for bettering our communities and growing the region is unwavering.”

Past Legacy in Motion award recipients include Congressman John Conyers; Michael, Marian, and Christopher Ilitch, Ilitch Holdings, Inc.; Cynthia Pasky, founder and CEO, Strategic Staffing Solutions; Rev. Solomon Kinloch, Triumph Church; and Donnell White, Deputy Executive Director, Detroit Branch NAACP. The 2009 Legacy in Motion honorees will be announced at a later date.

This year’s event will be held December 12 at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit.  The 2009 awards will celebrate the movers, shakers, and our favorite newsmakers in the following categories: Rising Star, Contemporary Pioneer, Family Spirit, Community Service, Newsmakers, Company of the Year, Sam Logan Lifetime Achievement, and Newsmaker of the Year.
