St. Paul’s Announces restructured residential life programming

Sept. 29, 2009 - PRLog -- We recognize the need to keep students busy, active, and involved in activities so that students will enjoy their time at St. Paul’s and so that students will recognize that they can be involved in positive and fun activities that do not involve negative things like drugs or delinquent behavior.  Therefore, in order to provide top notch services to meet the needs of your clients, our families, and our students, St. Paul’s Academy is taking the following action:

·   In addition to our regularly scheduled dormitory staff, the following staff will be working in the dormitories to help provide more structure and supervision:
·   Our licensed, Master’s level Counselors will work weekdays in the dorms 1pm-9pm.
·   Our academic coach will work in the dorms Mondays through Thursdays until 9pm.
·   Our Director of Residential Living will work in the dorms Mondays through Thursdays until 8pm.
·   We will have an additional dormitory counselor on staff Fridays through Sundays to help provide additional structure and supervision.
·   Students will be required to participate in a daily, physical activity program.  Students may choose from:  working out in our weight room, intramural sports, and AIA competitive sports (football, basketball, baseball, and golf).
·   Students with a substance use history will be required to participate 4 nights per week in 12-step meetings.
·   We will offer required, nightly, structured activities, to include:  cooking, caricature drawing, steel drum, and yoga.
·   We will offer required, nightly seminars, to include:  study skills, anxiety, self-esteem, substance education, recovery maintenance, relationships, depression, adoption/attachment, entitlement, and other seminars to meet the needs of our student population.
·   Every Wednesday will be a required community service outing.
·   There will only be 30 minutes of unstructured free time in the dorms on weeknights.
·   On weekends, we will offer:  work skills, room clean-up, off campus 12-step meetings, church services, hiking, recreation hall, and supervised off campus activities (pro sports games, college sports, museums, plays, musicals, bowling, skateboarding, golf, laser tag, and other activities).

As always, if you have any questions or feedback, please call us at 602-956-9090, or visit us at http://www.stpaulsacademy.com
