By: Joel McLaughlin · In addition to our regularly scheduled dormitory staff, the following staff will be working in the dormitories to help provide more structure and supervision: · Our licensed, Master’s level Counselors will work weekdays in the dorms 1pm-9pm. · Our academic coach will work in the dorms Mondays through Thursdays until 9pm. · Our Director of Residential Living will work in the dorms Mondays through Thursdays until 8pm. · We will have an additional dormitory counselor on staff Fridays through Sundays to help provide additional structure and supervision. · Students will be required to participate in a daily, physical activity program. Students may choose from: working out in our weight room, intramural sports, and AIA competitive sports (football, basketball, baseball, and golf). · Students with a substance use history will be required to participate 4 nights per week in 12-step meetings. · We will offer required, nightly, structured activities, to include: cooking, caricature drawing, steel drum, and yoga. · We will offer required, nightly seminars, to include: study skills, anxiety, self-esteem, substance education, recovery maintenance, relationships, depression, adoption/attachment, entitlement, and other seminars to meet the needs of our student population. · Every Wednesday will be a required community service outing. · There will only be 30 minutes of unstructured free time in the dorms on weeknights. · On weekends, we will offer: work skills, room clean-up, off campus 12-step meetings, church services, hiking, recreation hall, and supervised off campus activities (pro sports games, college sports, museums, plays, musicals, bowling, skateboarding, golf, laser tag, and other activities).
