Sept. 29, 2009 - PRLog -- Hollywood, CA  - “Hollywood Barks!” gives readers a unique opportunity to peek behind the camera into the real life of Hollywood dogs. This humorous account tells of revered studio wrangler Kathryn Segura’s experience training dogs for television, print, and movies, such as “Indecent Proposal” and “There’s Something About Mary.” From a brief history of dogs in Hollywood to the do’s and don’ts of set etiquette, readers are taken on a journey so vivid they will feel as if they were working on the set themselves. Each chapter is accompanied by a lesson for a trick or behavior readers can try with their dogs.

Review: "Five paws up for Hollywood Barks. Kathryn Segura hits "the mark" on telling the stories of well-known movie dogs and describing how they learn their roles. The training tips from expert trainer Segura can be used with all dogs, whether you want your dog to be a star or a well-mannered pet." Mary R. Burch, PhD, Director, Canine Good Citizen & AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy

Excerpt: “I received a call for a commercial requiring two white dogs: one very large and one small. My Papillion Checkers would be the perfect fit for the small dog, and I knew Greg Louganis' Great Dane Brutus could easily pull off the part for the large one (Greg's not just an Olympian, folks, he's a dog trainer, too!). But, when we arrived on set, I immediately discovered a BIG problem - the set was pure white, and so were the dogs - a very bad combination. I was sure that the only thing seen through the camera would be floating eyeballs. Times like this are when I thank my lucky stars I learned Hollywood make-up in my early years…”

A significant portion of proceeds is donated to the South Los Angeles Animal Care Center.
