EnviroAsia2009 Answers Asia’s Rapid Urbanisation Challenges

EnviroAsia2009 will feature the most advanced environmental, ecological and clean technologies across the four major environment industry segments – Waste, Water, Energy and Air.

Sept. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Latest environmental technologies and solutions on show at biennial trade exhibition

The haste in which Asia has urbanised and the rapid development of Asian cities that has followed have exposed stresses on the environment that compacting massive populations and industrial activities into tight spaces brings about.  EnviroAsia2009, the fourth International Environmental Technology Exhibition and Conference, brings together leading environmental technology and solution providers from across the globe to address the urgent demand for governments and industries to mitigate the undesirable outcomes of relentless urban growth in Asian cities.

Asia Pacific will continue to be the key driver in the global urban transition.  Its urban population is set to increase by 750 million to 1.5 billion city dwellers by 2025 . The impact that increasing industrial and residential activities in developing Asian cities will have on environmental pollution, ecosystem deterioration and greenhouse gas emissions is set to get ever more evident.

Addressing Full Extent of Environment Issues
EnviroAsia2009 addresses the range environmental challenges that need to be tackled for sustainable development.  Attendees of the event will witness proven solutions focused on solving conundrums in the four major aspects of environmental stewardship – Energy, Water, Waste and Air.

Renewable energy investments have been booming worldwide, with a total investment surpassing US$148.4 billion in 2008, up 60 per cent year on year . To address this market, EnviroAsia2009 will feature proven technology deployment opportunities from cleaner fossil fuels and energy efficiency programmes, as well as renewable energy opportunities available in the mid-term to long term.

Clean technologies in Water, Waste and Air ensures that the by-products of urban living and industry, whether in gaseous, liquid or solid states, are treated or removed from the environment.  With political will, the solutions on show are poised to dramatically improve the quality of life of populace across Asia currently grappling with air pollution, water contamination and brimming landfills.

Exporting to Asia
Environmental technology companies from within and outside of Asia will look to promote their solutions and services to city planners and industries in the emergent markets in China, Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent.  EnviroAsia is the key business networking platform in the region and companies have used the opportunity to team up to market their products to collectively under national and regional group pavilions.

This year’s exhibition will feature a new pavilion from Austria, which will be headed by Austrian Trade, the official Austrian Foreign Trade Promotion Organisation and the largest provider of services for foreign trade. The Austrian pavilion will feature Austrian companies which are well-known for their high quality products and technologies in the environmental industry.

A Singapore Pavilion will also return this year, managed by Enterprise Promotion Centre (EPC), the secretariat for Waste Management and Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS), the Singapore Water Association (SWA), and IE Singapore.

Conference to Discuss Energy Alternatives
The Sustainable Energy Conference will debut at EnviroAsia2009 to address the pressing need for governments and industries to develop more sustainable renewable energy sources quickly.  As the world continues to confront the effects of climate change, reducing carbon footprint from fossil fuel consumption has never been more critical.

The conference provides insights valuable to professionals in environment and energy agencies, renewable energy, biofuels and bioenergy companies, as well as clean technology providers and energy investors.  Held from 1 - 2 December 2009 at Suntec Singapore, the Head of Energy Efficiency and Environment from the IEA (International Energy Agency), Dr Richard Bradley, will deliver the keynote industry address on energy demand and supply trends in Asia, and the implications and challenges for Asia.

Other luminaries who will be speaking at the dual-track conference are top executives from the Clinton Climate Initiative, PT PLN, Pertamina Geothermal Indonesia, Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy, J-Power, Korean Energy Management Corporation, Covanta Energy, the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations, and more. Packed within just two days, the conference provides a true international perspective of energy management and efficiency, as well as energy alternatives for the industry today.

Strong Government and Industry Support
Singapore’s Nation Environment Agency (NEA) has once again pledged their support for EnviroAsia2009. Other supporting agencies include International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (SECB), Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR), Singapore Water Association (SWA), Waste Management & Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) and CHWMEG, a non-profit trade association promoting environmental waste stewardship

EnviroAsia2009 is held alongside Asia’s leading process engineering, controls instrumentation and scientific equipment event, CIA2009.  The exhibition consists of ControlsAsia2009, InstrumentAsia2009 and AnaLabAsia2009.
