Epic Failure - Blackberry Misses Launch of Application

Blackberry application not ready in time for 1st show of the US U2 360 Tour in Chicago, IL.

Sept. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Yes, the Blackberry still sucks and I’m kicking myself for not switching to the iPhone months ago. Nothing could have proved my point any clearer than this past week while  at the first US show of the U2 360 in Chicago, IL.

I have essentially kicked Blackberry to the curb for the iPhone because their product is sheit but my wife must keep hers, at least for a couple of more months b/c of the Marxist like contract that T-Mobile has.  Seems like a good time to try out what they offering right?  I’d use her Blackberry to try out the new U2 application….check out the videos…listen to a few songs while I’m drinking my 3rd or 4th beer and revel in the fact that I have an iPhone.

I logged on to the Blackberry (cr)app store only to find the U2 application wasn’t there?  Could it be???  NOOOOOOOOO……….the application wasn’t ready at the time of launch of one of the biggest tours of the summer??  There are “Blackberry Loves U2″ banners on every possible open space inside of Soldier Field and the thing isn’t even available?  Shocking you say?  Hell no…it’s as expected.  Over promising and under delivering.

Sauntering out for my next chilled beverage, I stood in line and noticed to my left a booth painted up with “Blackberry Loves U2″ and asked what the deal was and was told by the very Steve Jobs-ish looking metrosexual that the app was ready but “we’ve been working really hard to get it out”.  I was then offered a black backpack thingy.  If the whole situation couldn’t get any more laughable, the “backpack” was made out of the same material that was used by my hotel to carry dirty laundry.

Once again RIM and Blackberry, you prove that you suck it harder than ever.  Perhaps you should have spent part of the $10 (?) million you paid for splattering your name on everything and hired a few more developers to get your teeny, tiny product out on the doorstops you call phones.

BTW – I can get ALL of the videos, songs, etc. for free on my iPhone.
