Ice Breaker Game for Halloween

You should try using trivia as a party game if you haven't used it before.  It's very entertaining, and you usually learn an interesting fact or two about the subject...in this case the holiday of Halloween.   It's a great ice breaker game at a party, everyone seems to want to jump right in and shout out the answers to the questions they know.  It's a great way to start conversations among people who don't know each other.

Fun Halloween Facts

Just gather some fun facts about Halloween and put them in the form of a question.  Let the host  ask the questions...unless someone has come dressed up as a Game Show Host, and let everyone try to answer.

Of course, it's best if your guests answer one at a time, but if your friends are like mine, they will all be yelling answers at the same time....getting into the fun of the trivia game.  You can hand out simple prizes for those who give the correct answer.  It can be a piece of gory Halloween candy, like an eyeball lollipop, or even the first piece of cake.

Halloween Trivia Question Ideas

Here are some ideas to use when picking out your Halloween trivia questions.  Where was Halloween first celebrated, what was it called?  That's two questions...lol.   Who were the originators of Halloween honoring?  Who adopted this pagan holiday into it's rites? Name the holidays that came with this "inclusion".  Where did Trick or Treating come from?

Mix Easy and Difficult Questions

You can see the questions can be simple or difficult.  It will make for better answers and entertainment if you try to stump some of your guests, but don't make the questions too hard.    Where did the colors of Halloween come from?  Why do we use black and orange.  Where did the idea of Jack-O-Lanterns come from?

Use Real Historical Facts

What is the meaning of the word witch?  This one was a surprise for me.  You can always learn something interesting during a trivia game.   Historical facts are very interesting.  Delve into the origins of this fun dress up holiday to find unusual trivia questions.  Make your questions as interesting as you can to ensure a really fun game.

How much money do people in the USA spend on Halloween candy?   Can you believe it's that much?   Wow, I would never have thought that answer.  What spot does that put Halloween in  as far as the candy holidays go?  Where was the first city wide celebration of Halloween held in the United States?  and when?

Use Superstitions

Why are people afraid of black cats?   Keep going, find more Halloween trivia questions yourself, and you are going to be surprised by some of the answers.  It's all so interesting, we are so busy worrying about our costumes, we forget there is some real history behind our celebration of Halloween.  And it's interesting history...that makes it perfect for a fun game of Halloween  trivia.
