Sept. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- Brad Bayliff thought the transmission line cases before the Public Utility Commission of Texas were interesting but there were few places to obtain information about them. So, he started writing about the cases in a blog he started earlier this year, the Texas Power Lines Blog. This week, the blog was named "Blawg of the Day" by Tom Mighell's Inter Alia web site. Mighell often is quoted in articles on legal blogs and has viewed hundreds of legal blogs.

The Blawg of the Day selection describes Texas Power Lines Blog as “a great niche blog” and says the blog is “providing some great coverage on what is a really important topic here in Texas.” The Texas Power Lines Blog is located at http://blog.texaspowerlines.com/

"It is great to be noticed and commented on by someone of Tom Mighell’s stature in the legal blogging community. I started the blog with the hope that it could serve as a resource for landowners who received notices from utilities that their properties may be affected by a proposed transmission line," Bayliff said.

"Many wind farms are being built in West Texas and the Panhandle but the demand for the electricity they generate is in Central and East Texas. There are many applications being filed at the PUC to request authority to build CREZ transmission lines from the source of the wind energy to the consumers, so this is a timely and interesting subject area on which to blog. In fact, some of the entries that have generated the most interest have involved the LCRA CREZ transmission lines that are proposed to be built in the Texas Hill Country"

The American Bar Association estimates that there are between 2,000 and 3,000 legal blogs, what the ABA calls “blawgs.” Legal blogs often provide advice, tips, and opinions about legal issues. Mighell’s site has been included on the Blawg 100 list, the 100 best web sites by lawyers, for lawyers, as chosen by the editors of the ABA Journal.

Brad Bayliff is an administrative and regulatory law attorney who practices before the Public Utility Commission of Texas in electric utility and telecommunications cases. In transmission line cases, he only represents landowners but has represented clients ranging from individual landowners to developers. In addition to regulatory and arbitration work before state utility commissions, Bayliff also represents clients in rulemakings and lobbying efforts.
