Sept. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- In the modern age, postal and courier services are more popular than ever.  Internet shopping through retail stores and auction sites has resulted in an increase in parcel delivery requirements and tens of thousands of items are couriered daily.  In order to ensure your items arrive safely at their destination, Parcel2Ship, the parcel delivery experts known for their great rates on Parcelforce Worldwide and DHL courier services, are providing advice on the best ways to package parcels for delivery.

One of Parcel2Ship’s most important recommendations is that a space of around five centimeters is left between the outer wrapping and the item being delivered.  This space should be filled with some sort of padding or packing material and there are many products on the market that satisfy this purpose.

Howard Hughes, chief executive of Parcel2Ship who specialize in courier services and cheap parcel delivery, said, “There are many different types of environmentally friendly packaging materials on the market.  Different types of cushioning are available, from biodegradable loose fill chips or shredded paper to rolls of bubble wrap.  They are lightweight and flexible and when used with strong packing boxes they give the wrapped item good protection.”

It is also vital to separate multiple items that are being sent in the same package, particularly if the individual items are fragile.  Wrapping each item individually and using strong dividers such as cushion bags or cardboard dividers are essential to keep items separate.  Cases of wine with individual dividers are a good example of how to safely transport multiple fragile items.

Cushioned bags are also a good choice for smaller or flatter items.  Disks such as CDs or DVDs are often sent in cushioned packets and other small items such as keys, books, USB sticks or small electrical items can be safely delivered in such bags.

Mr Hughes added, “It is also essential that packages are correctly and securely sealed to prevent the contents from falling out. A good seal helps to strengthen your package and we recommend that strong tapes such as polypropylene or vinyl adhesive tape are used.  Shrink wrap films also provide good security but remember to stick the address labels on the boxes and not on the films.”
