Tekron releases PTP clock

The TTM 01-E supports IEC 61850 and IEEE 1588

Sept. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- Tekron International, a leading developer of precision timing products, is pleased to announce the release of the TTM 01-E, a small form-factor GPS clock that supports both NTP/SNTP and PTP.

Brian Smellie, Tekron’s Director of Technology, said: “The TTM 01-E adds some serious punch to one of our most popular clocks, the TTM 01. The clock now supports IEC 61850, the emerging international standard for communication in power substations; it also supports PTP, the next generation time protocol over ethernet from IEEE 1588 that enables sub-microsecond accuracy; and, to top it off, as long as the clock is connected to a LAN, the TTM 01-E can also be configured remotely.”

The TTM 01-E, which has been described as “The Mighty Mouse of GPS clocks”, is an ideal timing solution for small transmission and distribution sub-stations in the Smart Grid, including wind farms.

Ian Mills, Tekron’s Managing Director, said: “Adding PTP to the TTM 01 is just the start of our PTP product line. Within the next few months we will be releasing a PTP transparent switch as well as other PTP enabled clocks."

All Tekron clocks now support IEC 61850.
