Sept. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Seattle, WA – Dibspace, the Seattle-based business network for trading goods and services using a community currency, is expanding to Portland. The network’s Portland kickoff begins with a happy hour event co-sponsored by Biznik and Urban Grind. The details of the event:

•   Date/Time: Friday, September 18 from 4 – 7 p.m.
•   Location: Urban Grind Coffee House, 2214 NE Oregon.
•   Cost: FREE
•   Activities: drinks and food; presentation; networking with the intent to barter.
•   What to bring: business owners should come prepared with ideas about what they would be willing to trade to get their business working at full capacity.
•   Bonus: Businesses signing up for Dibspace will receive a bonus worth $100 (Dibits are awarded to each business’ account upon completing the online profile.)

Dibspace.com’s currency, called Dibits, are by no means the first alternative currency, but the company believes that it represents a major breakthrough in alternative economies. At a time when many businesses are struggling just to stay afloat, not to mention find new customers, Dibspace provides opportunities for additional lines of revenue by putting idle resources to work and helping businesses become recession-proof and grow while saving cash. Dibspace also gives businesses access to a large pool of potential clients, with no cost to participate.

In July 2009, the Seattle-based Dibspace group reached $100,000 in trade value, demonstrating that it is a viable community which offers its members incredible trading power. "Dibspace is has taken Seattle by storm, creating thriving trade among the city's small businesses, and soon Dibspace will spread through Portland," said Dominic Canterbury, Dibspace founder. “We really see Dibspace as the great hope of small businesses everywhere which could effectively end the recession for small businesses in Seattle, Portland and across the country.”
