Mosaic Harmony to Host 5th Annual Fall Vocal Workshop

Sept. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Oakton, VA — Mosaic Harmony, an interfaith, multicultural community choir based in Northern Virginia, will host their 5th annual vocal workshop for choir members and this year is adding a twist – inviting the community and other choirs to join them.  The 2009 workshop will be conducted by Mosaic Harmony’s talented pianist, Rev. Asa Lee and will be held at UUCF, Mosaic Harmony’s regular rehearsal space in Oakton, Virginia on Tuesday, November 3 and Wednesday, November 4 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm both nights.  

The vocal workshop, which originally started as a vehicle to increase the confidence of Mosaic Harmony members who had little or no experience singing gospel music, has grown to become a staple of the choir’s season.  Guest conductors of previous vocal workshops include Ysaye Barnwell, of Sweet Honey in the Rock fame and other prominent choral directors in the Washington metropolitan area.  Lee notes that the workshop is the perfect time for choir members to hone breathing, tonal pronunciation and vocal projection skills as well as techniques on retaining a new material learned in rehearsals.  Lee, an ordained minister who is also a highly skilled pianist and accomplished church musician and director with expertise in the Negro spiritual, traditional gospel and choral anthems, is in demand as a clinician and workshop presenter at local churches in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

Cost of the vocal workshop will be $15 per person and covers both sessions, and, will also serve as an opportunity for the community to meet Mosaic Harmony to see first-hand why their goal is to unify the world one song at a time.  For more information on the workshop and on the choir visit the site www.mosaicharmony.org
