By: IMC Club is opening its doors to share its safety mission with a wider audience. Starting today pilots nationwide are invited to join a truly unique club in aviation. The IMC Club’s goal is to increase pilot confidence and proficiency in actual IMC conditions. It was established as an additional learning resource for instrument rated pilots and students pursuing their Instrument Rating. To accomplish this, bi-weekly meetings are held to help pilots and students build and maintain their IFR skills and to learn from their peers. Too often pilots complete their training and then become distracted and disengaged from the flying community. The result is a dangerous lack of proficiency and/or the loss of support from the flying community as a whole. IMC Club is mitigating this issue by providing a means of reconnecting pilots with other pilots and instructors. IMC Club is committed to coaching, training, mentoring and helping pilots skillfully and safely fly in actual instrument meteorological conditions. Bi-weekly meetings provide a forum for pilots and instructors to discuss topics related to instrument flying. Post Mission briefings are also presented by participating pilots and are analyzed so all members can learn from the experience. Club Missions are divided into four levels, each level being more complex than the previous level. For example, initial missions include real world flying scenarios with relatively simple parameters. More complex missions include scenarios with multiple re-routings from ATC and more complex weather decisions. Completion of these missions determines your “rank” and proficiency level in the club. Pilots and instructors can participate in the IMC Club movement by opening their own IMC Club Chapters and enjoying the benefits and full support of the IMC Club website. No fee is charged for club membership. IMC Clubs mission is to promote pilot safety! More information can be found at www.imcclubs.org End
