Sept. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- On The Boot will see hosts of Nine Network’s The Footy Show James Brayshaw, Sam Newman, Garry Lyon, Billy Brownless and Shane Crawford kick off the walk/drive/ride relay alongside ambassador Luke Hodge and superstar AFL players from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Parkville on Friday 11 September at 9:30am. Footy players, celebrities and a band of passionate community supporters will unite over a three day walk from the city to the Yarra Yalley, joining forces to raise money and give children’s cancer the boot!

The On The Boot team will be walking through the city of Melbourne and surrounds from Friday 11 September – Sunday 13 September, stopping at local entertainment venues and family restaurants along the way to meet supporters and raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

Fans and fundraisers can meet their favourite AFL players, have a chat with John ‘Sammy’ Newman and get their photo taken with some of the AFL mascots! Kids can also get some handballing tips from players as they take part in the AFL Mascot Manor Handball Championships and can win some great prizes from Apple, Oakley & Strike Bowling at each of the family venues along the route.

The walkers will conclude their efforts at the On The Boot Family Fun Day at Yering Station on Sunday 13 September, where the whole family can enjoy live music from kids’ entertainers The Workers, awesome song and dance shows by AFL mascots Captain Carlton and Jock ‘One Eye’ McPie from Collingwood, plus enjoy jumping castles, balloonists, fairy floss and handball competitions. Food and drink courtesy of many local Yarra Valley farmers and Yering Station will be on hand to feed those hungry tummies.
