Sept. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- HUNTSVILLE, AL - Best-selling author Stephanie Osborn will appear at Montgomery Bell State Park near Burns, TN the weekend of September 11-13, 2009 as the Literary Guest of Honor for the OutsideCon science fiction convention. OutsideCon is a unique outdoor science fiction convention where camping and other outdoor activities are popular.

Stephanie is an exciting speaker, and will be talking about her current works, Burnout: The mystery of Space Shuttle STS-281, and the best-selling ebook The Y Factor, co-authored by Darrell Bain, as well as The Y Factor's sequel, The Cresperian Alliance, just placed under contract. She will conduct book signings on Burnout, which is available in trade paperback. She will also be speaking about her two-decade career in the civilian and military space programs, as well as future writing projects. Weather permitting, she will also host a stargazing party, focusing on the objects of the Milky Way Galaxy's spiral Orion arm, just rising for the autumn night season.

Burnout is a fast-paced cliffhanger of a novel in the best tradition of Martin Caidin or Michael Crichton, about a fictional Space Shuttle disaster which turns out to be no accident.

As the principal investigators - "Crash" Murphy, former flight director and re-entry expert, and Dr. Michael C. Anders, astronomer - dig deeper, they discover the signs of something unusual - and as they do, friends, lovers, and colleagues involved in the investigation begin to die in mysterious “accidents.” They find themselves on the run, searching for answers, wondering who they can - and can’t - trust, in a game of cat and mouse that spans more than one continent, and may span more than one planet.

The Y Factor is expected to be released in trade paperback format sometime around the first of the year. The Cresperian Alliance is slated for an ebook release in January 2010. These are Books 2 and 3 in the Cresperian Series. Human By Choice, the first book in the Cresperian Series, was written by Darrell Bain and Osborn's mentor, Dr. Travis S. Taylor, and is available as ebook and trade paperback; it recently won the Dream Realm Award in science fiction.

The Cresperian Series tells the story of Earth's first contact with aliens when their starship wrecks in our solar system. The Cresperians' lifepods are scattered across Earth, and the aliens and their technology become the pawns in dangerous international political intrigue. A new space race begins in the effort to see who can utilize the Cresperians and their technology first, and collect the largest group of the aliens, who have unique innate abilities to manipulate the very fabric of spacetime. But no one realizes how fragile the Cresperians really are... or what else is "out there"...
