Sept. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- The intention of this help is to show the user the different steps that have to be taken in order to get to the solution of the problem. A variety of applications are shown on cylinders, motors and pumps.

You are going to be able to see different ways to apply the Hydraulic Formulas to get   Pressure, Flow, Force, Bore and Rod Diameters, Torque, Displacement and RPMs. Working with standard or metric units as well.

Explanation of Hydraulic triangles of variables  use is shown. P-F-B, Q-B-s/t in cylinders and P-T-D, Q-D-RPM in pumps and motors.

Exercise # 1:  To rise a load of 38.000 pounds is needed using a cylinder , 45" high, in 18 seconds. A pressure of 2.500 psi maximum, can be used.

The questions are: Size of the cylinder? (Bore), Flow needed and Horse Power.

Exercise # 2: We have a cylinder with 5” Bore, 2.5” Rod diameter and 12” stroke. If the time to extend is 30 seconds, what is it to retract? Pump Flow needed?

Exercise # 3: We ha a new application. We need to move a band conveyor with a Hydraulic Motor.

The requirements are: 500 NT-m Torque, 100 RPM maximum. Not more than 1.750 psi of Pressure can be used.

Find the Displacement and the Flow needed.
