Sept. 8, 2009 - PRLog -- According to David Weeks, product manager of Windows Mobile, Microsoft is making efforts to catch on with Apple’s Iphone. “We’re two years out of date,” he says, “but now we’re making mobile our number two priority after Windows 7.”

A new Windows Mobile platform version is coming on October 6. This is the version 6.5 which provides support for newer technologies. Other major corporations like Nokia, RIM and Apple are all competing for the same market. Microsoft has not made regular updates to its Windows Mobile in the last 2 years.

Microsoft is working on a solution that can help people use their mobile device as a work tool, allow it to interact with Microsoft Exchange Server and store their contact on it. There will be support for new touch screen technologies where the user can scroll with their fingers and there will be no need for the stylus. According to Mr Weeks, the Windows Phone can run up to 31 applications at once while the Iphone can do just one. They want it to be able to link to the Windows PC operating system.

Microsoft is also working to have an app store just like Apple. Many developers have already offered Windows Phone versions of their iphone applications. Developers’ kits are also available at lower cost to start-ups to develop apps.

One interesting feature of the Windows Phone is that it will allow users to back up their photos, contacts, texts and other data online. We have to wait until the launch date to see all the other features.
