By: Amy Piligno Link My Mommy Wears a Wig incorporates lighthearted humor with a message that hair loss is not to be scary. It's just part of the process of getting 'rid of the bad stuff in my body'. This 16 page book with adorable childlike illustrations talks about wig shopping, a hair shaving party & the ease of taking care of a wig. This book can be for anyone who will lose hair during any cancer treatment since I do not mention breast cancer in the book. Those patients who have breast cancer, ovarian cancer, bone cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, hodgkin lymphoma, leukemia, pancreatic cancer, woman's cancer or other cancer that may involve chemotherapy or a cancer treatment which will result in hair loss can find value in this book. It helps the adult explain hair loss when they don't know what to say to their children. My Mommy Wears a Wig by Amy Link takes care of a need for those searching for self-help books when talking to young children about cancer & the physical changes they will see in their mommy and/or daddy. My oncologist, Dr. Generosa Grana, from the Cooper Cancer Institute in Camden, New Jersey has reviewed & praised this book & has been recommending this book to her patients. Also, my genetics counselor, Dana Farengo-Clark, from Cooper Genetics Program is using this book as a resource for her classes. This is a great resource for school psychologists, librarians, teachers, guidance counselors, cancer survivor groups, self-help, motivational speakers, child psychologists, churches & grief counselors. My Mommy Wears a Wig can be found at http://www.authorhouse.com. Many people who have read this book comment on the cute yet direct wording that allows a person to explain hair loss due to chemotherapy without it being overwhelming for the children. The children like the dog with hair on its nose from the hair shaving party and they also like the wig hanging up to dry in the bathroom.
