Sept. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- US Air Force Places Third Order for Avlite Solar Powered Airfield Sign Lights

Ali Al Salem Air Base of Kuwait has placed its third order for Avlite’s solar powered LED airfield sign lighting systems.  The AV-SIGN-20 is being used to externally light taxiway guidance signs, distance remaining signs and directional airfield signage.  To date, more than 55 units of the Avlite solar LED airfield sign lighting systems have been procured providing significant safety, navigational and maintenance benefits to this remote air base.  As a self-contained frangible airfield sign lighting system with minimal heat signature, pilots are able to navigate the runways, taxiways and apron areas under night vision goggles (NVG) or unaided eye operating conditions.  As a testament to the quality and durability of the Avlite solar LED sign lighting solutions, the signs must operate in the summer during constant heat levels above 55 degrees Celsius.  Ali Al Salem electrical staff commented to Aviation Renewables: “as the airfield lighting tech, I can say that I am impressed with your products thus far. We are using your solar sign lights to light the airfield signs… they are a very positive addition to our runway. I'm very impressed with their quality and effectiveness.”

Ali Al Salem Air Base is a Kuwait Air Force installation with part designated for operations by the US Air Force and its allies. “The Rock” provides combat rescue, theater airlift, aero medical evacuation, air surveillance and control, as well as force protection and support.  Aviation Renewables works closely with the US Air Force’s electrical staff to make this high traffic airfield safer and efficient with solar airfield lighting solutions from Avlite Systems.

As the OEM supplier for the US ARMY MOTS program, the Avlite solar airfield lighting is designed to operate to military requirements.  With a 3-year warranty, replaceable battery, encrypted radio control and custom designed aviation optical lens, the Avlite airfield lights are the benchmark in solar airfield lighting.  The only aviation manufacturer of complete solar airfield lighting systems for the US Forces, NATO and commercial airports, Avlite continues to develop rugged, reliable, on time solutions for its customers worldwide.  For more information on renewable aviation solutions as well as tactical, portable and emergency airfield lighting, please visit www.aviationrenewables.com and www.avlite.com
