Savant Books and Publications LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii, publishers of significant books and enduring media for the 21st century, is pleased to announce the release of R. Page Kaufman's satirical romance, Tropic of California: The Strains of Strauss.
By: Savant Books and Publications
Tropic of California follows the definitively tragic character Alan Strauss on his rapidly unfolding romp through glitzy Southern California. This twenty-seven year-old divorced ex-shoe salesman and "life survivor," temporarily down on his luck, is suddenly lifted up to a high corporate position and offered riches beyond belief. Yet through an ironic twist of fate, Alan learns the true meaning of love and friendship.
Tropic of California is an entertaining, humorous, romantic look at the human condition − a heartfelt story of one man's courageous journey to wisdom, happiness, and the ever-elusive "good life."
Contemporary satirist and native Californian R. Page Kaufman was born, raised, and schooled in Los Angeles. His experience as a psychotherapist gives him unique insight into both the humorous and tragic side of the human condition and its various interesting manifestations within the So Cal Lifestyle. Author of numerous socio-political essays, he is particularly interested in the art of human communication and love relationships. He currently resides in New Mexico, in his words, "taking a well-earned break from the L. A. freeways."
"There’s no place like Southern California to liven up any work," says the passionate author-musician. "It’s got everything a writer would ever want or need to build an eye-catching story."
"I like my characters to come alive on the pages, from the irascible Alan Strauss to sweet, innocent Mary Olson," says Kaufman. "That's what solid writing is all about."
"Tropic of California was an easy publication choice for Savant Books. It's a wonderfully delightful, ultra-hip, HEA romance in every sense of the word − HEA meaning, of course, 'happily every after,'" says Daniel S. Janik, Senior Editor of Savant Books and Publications. "And R. Page is every bit as delightful and complex an author as his crazy yet amazingly well-grounded protagonist, Alan Strauss. Tropic of California is a work I predict readers will enjoy and come to love over the years ahead."
