PostcardMania Helps Make an Amazing Little Girl’s Birthday Wish Come True!

Aug. 29, 2009 - PRLog -- Clearwater, FL – When Breanna Karl was first asked what she wanted for her upcoming birthday she answered, “a Wii,” but that soon changed and Breanna realized what she really wanted for her birthday — and so began her extraordinary project.

Breanna decided to forgo the Wii and instead asked all her friends and family to help raise food donations for the RCS Food Bank here in Pinellas County in lieu of gifts. All guests attending Breanna’s birthday party will be bringing non-perishable food items, which will be delivered to RCS on August 26th, Breanna’s official birthday. But Breanna didn’t want to stop with just family and friends, she decided to get the word out and get local businesses involved as well!

With the help of her supportive mom, Kirsten Karl, the two lovely ladies have been working hard to spread the word of “Breanna’s Wish” food drive to help raise as many donations as possible by her birthday.

“When we started to plan for Breanna’s birthday a few weeks back, she said she wanted a Wii,” says Breanna’s mom Kirsten. “After telling her how expensive this item is and that we ourselves are struggling, I asked Breanna what was more important: a present or friends & family…her exact response was ‘It matters about your heart, Mom, friends & family are more important than presents.’ Then ‘Breanna’s Wish Food Drive’ began!”

When PostcardMania CEO, Joy Gendusa, heard of this inspirational story, she jumped on board right away! PostcardMania has set up several donation bins all decked out “birthday style” in honor of Breanna, hoping to raise loads of donations to help make Breanna’s wish of helping others come true! Breanna has decided to continue her project beyond her birthday as the need for supplies has grown from 6,000 to 8,000 people to feed just within the last month! With the extreme food shortages and the alarming growth rate of people in need, RCS Food Bank almost had to close its doors for the first time in 25 years for about 7 days because they didn’t have any food left to give! It has been Breanna’s mission to make sure that RCS doesn’t have to do this ever again and is taking action in every way she can to help out — that is her birthday wish!
