Texas Woman Makes History and is Crowned First Miss National US
Miss Texas Nat’l US Andreana Choe is awarded the first national title after week long pageant preparation, events, and fierce competition
Rounding out the top 5 finalists were first runner-up, Joy Araujo (Indiana), second runner-up, Zhannda Dy (Rhode Island), third runner-up, Marie Ventrone (North Carolina), and fourth runner-up, Ellen Kress (New Mexico). Other special awards from the evening included Supermodels Unlimited Magazine Photogenic Award was awarded to Miss Minnesota Nat’l US, Rachelle Neilsen; Miss Congeniality went to Miss New Mexico Nat’l US, Ellen Kress; Advertising, Promotion, and Sponsorship Award went to Miss North Carolina Nat’l US, Marie Ventrone; the President’s Award went to Miss Indiana Nat’l US, Joy Araujo.
Andreana will begin her year with a bevy of prizes that include a cash scholarship, cover and fashion spread in Supermodels Unlimited Magazine, a swimsuit wardrobe provided by Sunsets Inc., a collection of products from Julie France Body Shapers, crown luggage from Holly Hardwick, a supply of beverages from Fuze, spa kits, crown jewelry, and of course the opportunity to champion charitable causes and women’s issues as national community ambassador Miss National US 2009.
The judge’s panel included 30 year pageant veteran and Miss America Organization local preliminary director and certified judge, Steven Walters, Vice President of Communications for the New Orleans Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Kelly Shultz, and New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity Development Department Coordinator, Lyelle Bellard.
Andreana is an accomplished pianist with 14 years of experience, a member of the El Paso Music Teachers Association, and is currently majoring in business management with a minor in finance and plans on double majoring in biology. With aspirations on becoming a cardiologist and one day finding a cure for congenital and congestive heart failure, she also wishes to venture to third world countries volunteering her services because she believes that everyone deserves excellent healthcare. She is currently involved with organizations such as Children's Miracle Network, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and Girls Scouts.
