MSG Exposes the Truth About “Frameless” Shower Doors

Aug. 24, 2009 - PRLog -- San Diego, California – United States – In an interview conducted today with owners of MSG, Mirror Shower and Glass, in San Diego, the truth about 'Frameless” shower doors was revealed. And, truth be told, most of them have frames according to a spokesman from MSG.

According to MSG, the term “frameless” shower enclosure was first used in the 1960's when the science of glass tempering enabled manufacturers to make glass doors that didn't need the traditional metal framework. These, however, still had an aluminum perimeter, allowing the door to seal. It wasn't until about ten years ago that true “frameless” shower doors were developed and they are designed for large enclosures where the door is a significant distance from the flow of water.

Apparently anything under ¼ inch is not true mirror quality but is often sold as if it is.

Other revelations are common knowledge in some arenas and not very well known in others. The copper content in mirrors has been examined in recent years and it's been determined that eliminating copper prolongs the life of your bathroom or wall mirror and makes them more resistant to “black edge.”

For those wondering about mirror cleaning we also received information from MSG about ammonia based glass cleaners. They should not be used on mirrors because mirror is made with real silver that will tarnish when it comes in contact with an ammonia based cleaner. This will result in “black edge” and your mirror becoming dull over time. Our spokesman felt that this might also be a fact that could be omitted when you buy a wall or bathroom mirror elsewhere.
