Male Beauty Pageant Fundraiser Scheduled

Aug. 24, 2009 - PRLog -- Male residents of the local area will be participating in a "Mixed Up Male Beauty Pageant" in order to raise funds to help pay for the medical care of Bryson Fanning, age 3. Bryson is being treated for Histiocytosis at UVA Medical.

Histiocytosis is a rare disorder that may attack skin, bone, muscles, and other important organs, including the liver, lungs, spleen, and hematopoietic system. Treatment involves radiation and chemotherapy. 1 in 200,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with this disease each year, and most are under the age of 10.

The Mercer-Tazewell County Board of Realtors is presenting the event, which is being sponsored by Grants Supermarkets, MCNB Banks and Regency Incorporated. The pageant will be held on September 1st at the Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield, VA from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Males interested in participating in the pageant can do so with a personal or corporate sponsorship and a $20 entry fee. Categories will include prettiest eyes, prettiest hair, prettiest smile, judge's choice, best dressed and best overall. Contestants are to collect as many $10 donations as possible from friends, family and customers.

The general public is also invited to attend. Admission is $3 at the door.

The evening will be capped with a "Dance Off" - the top ten contestants will "dance their feet off" in order to be crowned Queen of the Night.

All funds collected go to the Bryson Fanning Foundation to assist in paying for the child's medical care.
