Fundraising Organization Save Point to Host Second Marathon to Raise Money for Ten Thousand Homes

After raising $1276 for Child's Play with the Final Fantasy VII Marathon, fundraising Organization Save Point will raise money for Ten Thousand Homes with a 100 hour marathon of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Aug. 24, 2009 - PRLog -- Earlier this year, a group of video gamers formed the fundraising organization Save Point and played Final Fantasy VII and its spin-offs for 115 hours, raising $1276 for Child's Play, a charity organization which gives toys and video games to hospitalized children. This September 4, the Save Point team hopes to repeat their last marathon's success with their 100 hour The Elder Scrolls IV: Obivion Marathon - "Oblivithon" - for Ten Thousand Homes.

Ten Thousand Homes is a charity organization dedicated to helping African cildren orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. From the official website: "Ten Thousand Homes creates “HOME” for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa by building multi-care centers, building homes, and providing a sense of belonging for orphans and vulnerable children. Ten Thousand Homes brings “HOPE” by providing quality training, education, and economic opportunities."

Save Point is a new organization dedicated to making the world a better place through gaming. It was formed by college students who love video games and wanted to use this passion to serve the community, the world, and God.

Players for the Oblivithon will be David Houck, Olivia Regester, Trey Collich, and Jeremy and Chelsi Nelson. As opposed the nearly chaotic quality of the earlier Final Fantasy VII Marathon with over two dozen people flowing in and out of the room, the Oblivithon will feature a tight, closed group.

The Oblivithon will be streamed live at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/save-point-charity . More information on Save Point and Ten Thousand Homes can be found at www.savepointcharity.com and www.tenthousandhomes.org respectively.
