Can a Video Spokesperson Enliven a Website?

“Web Presenters” make some sites more attractive with a walk-on video introduction.

Aug. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- www.WebWiseMedia.com, a Los Angeles based web design and SEO marketing firm has added Web Presenters to its array of business services.

A web presenter is a video message either 30 or 60 seconds in length.  A professional actor records an introductory message, shot against a green screen.  When edited and added to the website’s landing or home page, the “Presenter” appears to walk onto the page and speak directly to each new visitor.

“Web presenters are catching on as a way to hold a visitor’s attention,” said Web Wise Media’s Sales Manager Mike.  “The presenters are professional spokesmen and women, and they will deliver anything from a warm welcome, a sales message, or instructions on how to navigate the website; basically whatever the customer wants the presenter to say.”

The service costs between $299 and $399 at Web Wise Media, depending on the length of the video.  That includes hiring the actor from the company’s list, shooting and editing the video, and uploading the code onto the customer’s website.

If the customer decides to change content on their website or change the video, a new fee is required, so it is advisable to know you are not going to make any major changes in your website’s message, purpose and focus before purchasing the service.

Once installed, the web presenter stays on the client’s website forever and requires no further maintenance when the work is completed and loaded.  If there are any technical malfunctions Web Wise Media warrants to correct them—as long as the problems are not caused by the site owner making changes or deleting code.

The company offers a range of available actors from which to choose.  Customers may choose a male or female spokesperson, varying in age, hair color, even ethnic background.  Or customers may supply their own actor (or record their own greeting personally.)  However Web Wise Media will not guarantee the professionalism of any outside actor, and there is currently no discount available for bringing an outside spokesperson.  The customer is responsible for paying the actor’s fee independently.

Web Wise Media has devoted pages of their site to Web Presenters.  Go to http://www.webwisemedia.com/websitePresenter.php to learn more, see live samples or you can even test what it would look like on your site.  (The test presenter will deliver a generic welcome, but will walk onto the URL of your choice.)

Critics say it’s just a gimmick to get people to stay on the page longer.  Proponents say that is the point.  Getting visitors to stay longer on the landing page increases the chance of that prospect clicking around to other parts of the site and even making a purchase.
