Resurrection Pictures: Fact Sheet

Just the facts: All about the Christian film ministry of Resurrection Pictures

Aug. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- “Movies are powerful. They influence hearts and minds.  They can desensitize us to what is right and wrong, shift thinking, inspire action and change society.  If theaters are the battleground for faith and culture, then Christians must have a more significant presence on the battlefield—worldwide.”

Fact Sheet

What?

  Founded in 2006, Resurrection Pictures is the first and possibly the only non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to producing and distributing Christian-themed entertainment for theaters worldwide.

  This 501(c)(3) Christian film ministry was founded by Dr. William Harrity, a Los Angeles-based anesthesiologist who has a passion for movies, entertainment and bringing people into a personal relationship with Christ.

  Recognizing the importance of an industry-wide movement to achieve the ministry’s vision—Moviegoers worldwide are hearing the gospel and coming to salvation in Jesus Christ—Resurrection Pictures financially supports the work of other film entities that aspire to create high-quality culturally relevant entertainment options that share the Gospel message.

  Headquarters:  Pasadena, CA

  Website: www.ResurrectionPictures.org

Why?

Popular culture—reflected in many movies released today—can encourage non-biblical worldviews, like: There is no God, evolution is fact, life is worthless—abortion is no big deal, homosexuality is acceptable, drug use and violence are cool, premarital sex and adulterous affairs are fun and exciting and more.

The consequences of this can already be seen: children are walking away from their faith, marriages end in divorce, family unity is eroding, and businesses operate without integrity. Churches have become irrelevant-even passive on these issues.

How?
Powerful stories—with controversial and culturally relevant themes, which reveal the unconditional love of God through his son, Jesus Christ —can deliver a transforming message to audiences in theaters worldwide.  Coming soon to a theater near you are:

  The Unplanned and Unwanted Pregnancy

By Resurrection Pictures:

Resurrection Pictures was founded in 2006 as the first—and possibly the only—501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt ministry with a mission to produce and distribute Christian-themed entertainment for movie theaters worldwide.  This Christian film ministry is shaping the future of the faith-based film industry by investing in the work of others who share a vision to create high-quality, culturally relevant entertainment options that share the Gospel message.  In September 2009, Resurrection Pictures is partnering in the release of “The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry”—a heartwarming coming-of-age story about three 12-year-old boys who are shown how to apply Scripture to daily struggles—and is a 2009 Silver Sponsor of the 168 Hour Film Project & Festival.  “Creation,” Resurrection Pictures’ first original film project, is a biopic that dramatizes the life of Kent “Dr. Dino” Hovind, tracing his rise to prominence as one of America’s best known creation evangelists, and his eventual fall from grace due to income tax evasion. The film will be written by Kevin Miller, writer of “EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed.” It is scheduled for production in 2010.
