‘I believe in constantly raising the bar,’ says Simon, who is joined by fellow judges Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue.

TV Choice, the UK’s best-selling listings magazine, is also packed with features on the best of this week’s television.

Cutting It and Hope Springs star Sian Reeves joins Emmerdale as Reverend Ashley Thomas’ old flame, while Timothy Spall stars in a single drama about a bereaved dad in Gunrush. This Morning’s Phillip Schofield has plenty of cash to give away in new game show The Cube.

In the soaps, EastEnders’ Garry’s wedding joy is ruined after discovering that Dawn has been cheating with Phil, while in  Coronation Street David tells a horrified Gail he thinks Joe attacked him. In Emmerdale, Mark is having second thoughts about Ryan leaving for Dubai, while Cindy decides to dump Darren in Hollyoaks. In Doctors Ruth is shocked by Heston’s revelation, and there are complications after Bridget goes into labour in Neighbours.
