Aug. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- The Isle of Jura's master distiller has offered a luxury weekend on a Scottish island to whoever comes up with the best name for his latest whisky.

In the wake of his online battle with legendary mixologist Colin Field, the Isle of Jura's Richard Paterson has asked web users to suggest names for one of the distillery's latest creations (http://www.isleofjura.com/richardandcolin/detail.cfm?contentid=347). In addition to seeing the name they come up with appear on the bottle, the winner and a guest will spend a luxurious break in an island lodge off the west coast of Scotland.

Not to be outdone, Paris Ritz head barman Colin Field has responded with a matching offer to cocktail fans. Having invented a new whisky cocktail, he has promised a second weekend on Jura to the creative bright spark who comes up with the best name for it. The winner will also have the honour of seeing their creation appear on the drinks menu at the Paris Ritz.

The competition was announced after two of the world’s greatest drinks experts met face to face in a showdown designed to answer the age-old question: how should you take your whisky?

The issue of whether you should drink quality Scots whisky on its own, on the rocks or with a splash of water has divided drinkers the world over for generations.

A question that has sparked countless debates, split friends and divided families, this centuries-old conundrum was fiercely debated in a showdown organised by the makers of Jura single malt whisky.

In an attempt to settle the issue once and for all, Jura hosted an exclusive online video debate between Richard Paterson – master blender at the Isle of Jura distillery and widely recognised as the world’s best whisky blender - and Colin Field, who as head barman at the Ritz Paris is arguably the best cocktail mixer in the world.

Competition closes on August 31, 2009. The draw will take place on September 7 2009.
