Aug. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- With tickets selling like the proverbial ‘hot cakes’ Falmouth Sound has announced the local talent that will be gracing the stage at Events Square in the daytime on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August.

Following a hugely popular competition run two lucky bands won the opportunity to open the event. The band chosen to kick off Falmouth Sound was the Ice Cold Idiots. With a combined aged of 36, these pint-sized rockers are a three-piece known to thrill crowds wherever they go! And opening the show with a bang on Sunday 30th August will be Julian Gaskell and his Ragged Trousered Philanthropists whose unique blend of stomping skiffle is one not to be missed.

All of the daytime gigs are open free to the public and the schedule for both days is as follows:

Saturday 29th August:

Ice Cold Idiots
Hollie Rogers
Break Cover
Ruarri Joseph

Sunday 30th August

Julian Gaskell and the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists
People's String Foundation
Circus of Sound
Backbeat Sound System

As we groove into Saturday evening the ticketed event will begin featuring NME award winners The Wombats, The Boxer Rebellion who have recently made history by signing an exclusive distribution deal with HMV sending waves through the music industry, Ninja Tune favourite Fink, Irish singer/songwriter Foy Vance and Melo Park featuring Sian Evans of Kosheen.

The following evening the stage will be awash with legends including the wrold’s most famous reggae band The Wailers, The Neville Staple Band (featuring two-tone legend and member of The Specials, Neville Staple) who will be accompanied by ska songstress Pauline Black from The Selecter, along with Gaddidon (featuring Basil ‘Steel Pulse’ Gabbidon) and a DJ set by Steel Pulse producer and manager, Pete King.

Falmouth Sound will be one of the few opportunities to see The Wombats and The Wailers this summer so to be sure not to miss out head over to Ticket Web http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/ and get your tickets now.  Alternatively pop into The Poly or Toast in Falmouth, Quintessential in Truro or The Green Room in Redruth and pick up a ticket in person.
