Why You Should Not Join A.S.H.

Aug. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- And this reporter will respond to a fanatical group that that has a reputation that is as bad, if not worse, than PETA. The big difference between this group and PETA, is PETA tries to save animals lives. This group is out to kill smokers.

A.S.H. (Action on Smoking and Health) is about as fanatical an organization as you can get. Run by attorney John Banzhaf III, famous for filing frivilous lawsuits, they provide absolutely NO resources for smokers. They do provide rabid ANTI-smoking rhetoric and teach you how to clog the court systems by filing lawsuits.

- They are on a hard campaign to ban a proven safer alternative to smoking.

- They chose to LIE to the American people to to protect their bottom line and keep the status quo.

Lets look at the reasons ASH wants you to join them

"A.S.H. is the nation’s oldest and largest antismoking organization, and the only one which regularly takes hard-hitting legal and other actions to fight smoking and to protect the rights of nonsmokers."

They take on a fanatical roll if their vested interests are threatened. They file frivilous lawsuits, they attack Electronic Cigarettes rabidly because it is a disruption to their status quo, they provide NO resources for the average smoker to quit, they provide ways to disrupt peoples lives, they proclaim smoking parents as unfit, the list goes on.

"A.S.H. provides nonsmokers with legal forms and valuable information to help them protect their rights, and to learn more about the problems and costs of smoking to nonsmokers."

Again, not a single resource for smokers who actually MAY want to quit. In their own words, they admit that they tailor only to NON SMOKERS. Far be it from me to open a website to combat the use of crack if I never used it before in my life.

"A.S.H.’s actions have helped prohibit cigarette commercials; ban smoking on planes, buses, and many public places; lower insurance premiums for nonsmokers, etc."

As you can see, ASH is only tailored to NON smokers. In fact, they use NAZI like tactics to demonize us as smokers (and now, vaporers), and to push their agenda along. And, you may ask, why do they do this?

"A.S.H. is entirely supported by tax-deductible contributions from people like you concerned about smoking and protecting the rights of nonsmokers."

That’s right. It’s about the money. Money they get from non smokers to push their anti smoking agenda along to get more money from more non smokers.

And exactly how do they do this? By providing misinformation.

Recently, in news releases, ASH made several rabid attacks on the Electronic Cigarette. Despite the FDA testing that proves that the e-cig is far safer than conventional tobacco cigarettes, ASH had to act, and act quickly. They realized that the Electronic Cigarette has been found to be safer than real cigarettes, and they realized this is a major disruption to them and they will have to spare no expense to see them banned.

In an excerpt from a recent news article, ASH states:

"These include possible contamination, smokers who otherwise would quit instead remaining addicted to nicotine, the deadly danger nicotine inhalation can pose for people with risk factors for heart attacks, the propensity of inhaled nicotine to sustain or even trigger an addiction, the worry that youngsters will use e-cigarettes as “training wheels” on the way towards cigarette smoking, and the potential risks to those around e-cigarette users – including infants and young children, the elderly, those with existing medical problems, etc. – who will be exposed to the exhaled vapors."

As you can clearly see, this was written by someone who has absolutely no knowledge of the Electronic Cigarette. It is a medically known fact that nicotine is toxic in very high concentrations, in which electronic cigarettes do not possess. Their claim that “the deadly danger nicotine inhalation can pose for people with risk factors for heart attacks, the propensity of inhaled nicotine to sustain or even trigger an addiction, the worry that youngsters will use e-cigarettes as “training wheels” on the way towards cigarette smoking” is an outlandish claim.

The vapor from an electronic cigarette does not act like cigarette smoke and, in fact, when expelled from the users lungs, it is so diluted that realistically the only thing expelled is water and some PG vapor.

And as far as being the “training wheels” for children to start their nicotine addiction is concerned, it would be a very expensive set of “training wheels", as your typical electronic cigarette kits run anywhere from $75.00 to over $200.00. It would be cheaper for them to start with a pack of Marlboros. Again, another case of disinformation to keep their status quo.

The sad fact remains is for the majority of the American Public, they are fed this misinformation and make uninformed decisions. These decisions sometimes disrupt and at the very worst, cost lives. What ASH is doing will eventually cost lives. And as clearly stated by ASH member Jane DeVille-Almond, in a radio interview, stated, and we quote

“Well, they just have to die.”

Now we know where ASH really stands.
