Attica, IN To Present Public 9/11 Memorial & Dove Release

Aug. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- On Monday 8/10/09 the Attica, IN Town Council approved a petition to host a 9/11 Memorial.  The event, which was petitioned by a local citizen, Jerry Holt, will take place on Sept. 11, 2009.  It will be part of a greater number of memorial events taking place across the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand on that date.  Each event will culminate with a White Dove Release taking place at a prescribed time nationwide, so that all doves will be in the air at the same time.  The event is being coordinated by  Gene Snoeberger, Chief of Police and Ed O'Farrell, Fire Chief, as well as Mr. Holt.  All are residents of the Attica area.

Mr. Holt, who owns Heaven Sent White Dove Release in Attica is also a member of the National White Dove Release Society (NWDRS) which is responsible for organizing the simultaneous white dove release effort.  To read more information about the 9/11 Memorial White Dove Release please go to www.whitewingsoveramerica.com.  Several thousand white doves will be humanely released across the world. The white doves are actually white homing pigeons and will return to their own lofts after being released.  All releases will be orchestrated so that all doves are in the air at 12:00 noon EDT.  Only the scheduled releases in Australia and New Zealand will be some hours earlier due to the International Date Line.  

The local memorial service will feature a number of local participants and will culminate at 12:00 noon EDT with the release of 60 white doves.
