Guinness World Record Holder for Longest Walk Self Publishes His Documentary

Long-distance walker, George Meegan, documents his travels and travails in his Xlibris release.

Aug. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- If you have heard of the record holder for the longest run in the Guinness Book of World Records, one British merchant seaman succeeded in taking the longest walk in human history. He was then 25 years old.

George Meegan is famous for his unbroken walk of the entire Western Hemisphere with no special equipment and financial backing. His self-published book, The Longest Walk: The Record of Our World's First Crossing of the Entire Americas, chronicles the entire voyage that commenced from Tierra del Fuego, South America in 1977 to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in 1983. He concluded his walk to Barrow in 2002 summing up the total distance of his journey to 19, 0919 miles in 2,425 days.

In this Xlibris release, self-published author George Meegan describes himself as an adventurer, lecturer, and world traveler. Back when Central American was ripe from revolution, Meegan’s account of the world as he saw it was transparent in a documentary that illustrated the hardships and challenges he encountered.

The Longest Walk: The Record of Our World's First Crossing of the Entire Americas is a cache of experiences and emotions of how a record-making journey made an impact on one man and the world.
