Aug. 13, 2009 - PRLog -- Libel is the written or otherwise published, public defamation of a person or entity, such as that of a company or organization. In extreme cases, Libel is punishable by law.

The right to fairly criticize others and publicly share that criticism is one of the major freedoms in America; it is however, illegal to malign the reputation of anyone through libel.

Rip Off Report.com is a company that makes a profit by letting angry customers place their rants and complaints on it’s website. In order for a company to request the unmerited complaints to be removed, they have to pay third parties ( which may or may not belong to ripoffreport.com ) to remove the complaints for them. Many of these complaints are painfully distorted and unjust towards the company the poster has targeted.

" Because distortion of the truth is also lying, Rip off Report should be held accountable in a court of law for allowing such content on it’s website." Is the viewpoint of a lawer near corydon Indiana who did not wish to be named.

One Company mentioned at Rip Off Report was ApplianceZone.com, a company known for its high values in customer service, quick shipping, and unbeatable prices. And though at the time being they have no intention of pressing the issue, Jim Allen CEO was appalled by what was placed on the website. Jim Allen, who started his family ran business in 2008 claims that the person who posted the libel had no merit or right to do so. The Statements posted were disgustingly distorted, an inflammation of the truth, and dampered to make the posting party more credible. After researching the issue further, He found that he would have to pay a third party, ( these are companies suggested to be owned by the creators of Rip Off Report ) to remove the negative post.

There are many pending lawsuits against Rip Off Report and it’s malign business practice which can be found and investigated through any basic search engine such as google or yahoo.  Many of these could easily have been preventing just by the company doing research on the claims that were posted, and removing the false content.
