CLAUDIO ONORATO
“Underground Mint”

Opening: Saturday, 3rd October, 2009
4.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.

The new exhibition season of Anfiteatro Arte starts with an exciting and facets rich tale: Claudio Onorato. Looking his works we perceive his patience of Job and a great love for art-working, with Art devotion and attention to details. In this context we can appreciate his elegant and able use of irony.
The artist would like to change the world with adult hands and a child smile. This picture in few words reveals his way of being. He appears like a kaleidoscopic watcher of our daily life, able to surprise and enchant us like a perfect modern minstrel. His tales look like embroidery chasing on carton-board shreds spared by a cutter.

He drives us in softened worlds with able casualness. Fantasy characters abducted from our childhood memories inhabit these imaginary worlds. He uses them to soften  real stories talking about wars and money, capitalism and careerism, precarious social balance and monsters of our times like terrorism and mafia.

“Underground Mint” is an exhibition that deals with foregoing statements, never forgetting the game aspect. Numismatics is an old passion of Claudio Onorato that silently returns.

The exhibition will open on the third of October, during the fifth Art Contemporary Day (“Giornata del Contemporaneo”). It will last until the 30th of October, 2009.

During the exhibition it will be available the art catalogue “Claudio Onorato – Underground Mint” (with Mattia Munari short introduction written in Italian language). This catalogue will be the first element of the library “Milano Exercise Books” (“I Quaderni di Milano”). This series born to relate Anfiteatro’s interest towards new Italian and international Avant-garde.

From Tuesday to Friday, in the following time:
11.00 a.m. – 1 p.m. ; 4.00 p.m. – 6.30 p.m.
Fixed appointments will be appreciated.

BIOGRAFY
Claudio Onorato was born in Milan (Italy) in 1967. He studied architecture and he worked for twenty years in Art moving freely from painting to sculpture, from great murals to environmental installation. Using poor materials, often saved to garbage, he creates stories apparently thoughtless that hide the most problematic aspects of our time. He realized pictures for “Ventiquattro”, a magazine enclosed to “Sole 24 Ore”, the main economic newspaper in Italy.
